Choose the right project scope
Construction notices can cover new buildings, renovations, civil works and smaller repairs. Start broadly, then search separately for the type of project your team delivers. A headline project may include several disciplines; check whether you are responding as prime contractor or to a distinct package.
Read the site and programme requirements
Review drawings, site access, working seasons, occupied areas and any mandatory meeting. Remote locations can add mobilisation, accommodation and transport costs. Identify approvals, utilities and long-lead items that could affect the programme before committing to a completion date.
Check commercial requirements early
Read the notice’s bonding, insurance, security and experience requirements before investing in a detailed estimate. Confirm quantities, allowances, change procedures and payment milestones in the documents. Contract values are not supplied in our current Canadian notices, so the preview is a starting point for review rather than a budget estimate.
Your quick checklist
- Can we meet the specific bid and contract security requirements?
- Have we reviewed drawings and mandatory visits?
- Are seasonal access and transport costs included?
- What approvals and dependencies affect completion?
